Got the top rail cut and installed. Here is the deck with the 1st coat of primer. Needs another coat; then paint. I hate painting!

After about a 2 month break to work on the kitchen finally got back to the deck. Note to self; When wood dries out completely it is a pain to work with!

Much nicer looking than the old planks. I'm happy we ended up replacing the old planks.

Looking good! A little paint and good as re-furbished.

Here are the repaired joists.

Except for the end joists most had just a little rot on the top. Rot was removed and joists repaired! Here my dad tends to the ends of the joists.

The results of tornado Kucic 

Initial plan was to save the deck floor boards. As you can see it was quickly realized this was a futile idea.

After my Dad went "8lb sledge hammer crazy on the deck", the back yard looked like a tornado hit it! 

Every where there was a nail it was rotting. There is the planter! 

You can see the rot on the deck. The previous owners though it a good idea to put a planter on the deck above this spot!
